Semaglutide for Weight Loss in Las Vegas, NV

Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Wegovy and Ozempic. Taken as a once-weekly injection, semaglutide acts on GLP-1, a hormone which helps control appetite and blood sugar. Who Semaglutide Fits

Adults 18 and older with obesity, or with extra weight plus a related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or heart disease. Laurie reviews your health history and medications first. Semaglutide is not a fit if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, or if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

Semaglutide, Your Heart, and Your Kidneys

In March 2024, the FDA approved Wegovy to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight. In January 2025, the FDA approved Ozempic to lower the risk of kidney disease getting worse in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Our nephrologist, Dr. Jordana Cheta, MD, works in the same building, so your weight loss plan and kidney care stay connected. Kidney care

What to Expect

Your first visit happens in person. Laurie reviews your history, orders lab work when needed, and runs an EKG in our clinic when appropriate. You start on a low dose, and the dose rises gradually to limit side effects. Regular check-ins track your progress.

Common Side Effects

Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and a smaller appetite are the most common side effects, and they often ease as your body adjusts. Call us right away for severe stomach pain.
