Sleep Apnea Evaluation in Las Vegas, NV
Obstructive sleep apnea is one of the most under-diagnosed conditions in adult medicine. People live with it for years, sometimes decades, attributing the fatigue, morning headaches, irritability, blood pressure that won't quite come down, and weight that won't quite come off to "just getting older." Their partners often notice first: loud snoring, pauses in breathing, gasping arousals. By the time it gets recognized, the cardiovascular and metabolic costs of untreated apnea have been quietly accumulating.
Our evaluation begins with a careful sleep-focused history, a physical exam that looks at upper airway anatomy, and a discussion of cardiac risk factors. When the picture is consistent with obstructive sleep apnea, we coordinate home sleep testing or in-lab polysomnography as appropriate. We help interpret the results, discuss treatment options, and manage follow-up.
Treatment beyond the first night with CPAP
For many patients, CPAP remains the most effective treatment, and the difference patients describe after they finally adjust to it is remarkable. We help with the months that matter most, pressure titration, mask fit, side-effect troubleshooting, and the patience required to make a new habit stick. For patients who can't tolerate CPAP or whose disease is mild, we discuss alternatives including positional therapy, weight management referrals, oral appliance evaluation with a sleep dentist, and surgical options when relevant.
Why this matters beyond fatigue
Untreated obstructive sleep apnea is associated with hypertension, atrial fibrillation, stroke, diabetes, and excess daytime sleepiness that affects driving safety and work. Treating it well does not just help you feel rested, it lowers downstream risk that compounds over years.
